From 9–11 April, the EAAP (European Federation of Animal Science) held its regional conference in Krakow, Poland, hosted by the Agricultural University of Krakow. The theme of this year’s event was “Animal production in the changing world”, focusing on how livestock systems are responding to current global challenges.
The conference attracted around 150 participants, including researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers. Sessions covered a wide range of topics, from climate resilience and innovation to animal welfare and economics.
aWISH was represented in the plenary session by Dr Irene Camerlink, who gave a presentation on the economics of animal welfare. Her talk explored how improving welfare can bring both ethical and economic benefits, contributing to more sustainable animal production systems.
The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping the future of livestock farming.
